A lifetime in the making, this collection of 75+ sports autographs was acquired through the mail from long time collector Jim Schendel, who was a known collector of many fields who wrote to athletes, historical figures, presidents, actors, musicians and many others asking for autographs since the 1950s. Some of these figures would send back signed letters, photos and even personal items, but nowadays it is almost impossible to get a success through the mail, particularly from superstars. Autographs are on letters, baseballs, photos, cards and more from many sports including baseball, football, golf, tennis, racing and more. More important pieces include: 1) 1962 Jackie Robinson signed letter responding to autograph request (PSA authenticated). 2) Jackie Robinson signed small newspaper photo (PSA authenticated). 3) 1957 Walter O'Malley signed letter with his American League pass that Jim requested. 4-6) Red Grange signed index cards. 7) 1961 Calvin Griffith signed letter and American League pass for the Washington Senators. 8-9) Charles Atlas signed letter to Jim and signed 8x10" photograph. 10) Jesse Owens signed 8x10" photograph. 11) Joe DiMaggio signed 8x10" photograph inscribed to Jim. 12) Sugar Ray Robinson signed 8x10" photo inscribed to Jim. 13) Bud Wilkinson signed 5x7" photo. 14) Bronko Nagurski signed 3x5" photograph. 15) Kirby Puckett signed 3x5" postcard directly from the Minnesota Twins. 16-18) Joe Frazier signed photo and two (2) signed business cards. 19) Ed Healey signed handwritten letter to Jim with Jim Thorpe and Hall of Fame content. 20) Jack Sharkey cut autograph inscribed "To Schendel, Good luck with your collection, yours in sports." 21) Max Schmeling signed 3x5" photo inscribed to Jim. 22-23) Two (2) Jack Dempsey signed newspaper photos. 24) 1963 Minnesota Twins team signed OAL Cronin baseball with 29 autos including Harmon Killebrew, Wally Post and Zoilo Versalles. 25) Arnold Palmer signed 8x10" photograph. 26) Ben Hogan signed letter to Jim. 27-28) Charles Atlas signed letter to Jim and signed 8x10" photograph. 29) Macy's President David Yunich signed ONL baseball.
