Many New England children grew up on the tales inside “Old Boston Boys and the Games They Played” by James D’Wolf Lovett and no doubt it played a role in creating rabid Red Sox fans. It is reminiscence about sports played by children in the Boston area, with an emphasis on baseball along with some info on rowing, and cricket. Many photographs and some drawings by C. D. Gibson. Mainly concerned with Boston collegiate athletics during the mid-19th century. This copy was privately printed in limited edition at the Riverside Press in 1906. Spine shows some wear but overall book is in EX condition. First page has some writing in black pen that is dated July 8, 1906. Book is 6-1/4 X 8-7/8 X 1-1/8.”
