Shaped like a Sterling Silver loving cup, this 6" trophy was presented to Canadian swimmer George Hodgson for his participation in the 1912 Olympics. The engraving reads: "PRESENTED TO GEORGE R. HODGSON BY HIS FRIENDS THE RESIDENTS OF LAG BRULE IN RECOGNITION OF HIS WINNING THE WORLDS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP AT THE OLYMPIC GAMES STOCKHOLM JULY, 1912." It is stamped on the bottom: "STERLING" along with maker's marks and in EX condition. Hodgson won the two longer freestyle swimming gold medals at those Olympics, the only categories in which he competed.
