Perfectly preserved, signed photographs of a trio of box-office who enjoyed enormous success in the '30s. As befits the Hollywood motif, triumph is mixed with tragedy in the cases of the two male actors. Al Jolson, who starred in the first talkie "The Jazz Singer", never reprised that triumph and fell out of favor. John Gilbert, after silent-era fame, succumbed to alcoholism and died in 1934 of a heart attack. By contrast, the inimitable Bette Davis enjoyed decades of fame. Jolson photo is 8" x 10", Gilbert/Davis 40" x 49". Signatures are Jolson 9/10, Gilbert and Davis 8/10 (Davis partially obscured).
