Billy Backus Fight Robe

Billy Backus was born in Canastota, New York on May 5, 1943. On December 3, 1970, in Syracuse, Backus stopped Jose Napoles in the 4th round to win the Welterweight Title. In his career, Billy Backus fought a number of significant welterweights, including Hedgemon Lewis, Rocky Mattioli and Pipino Cuevas. He retired in 1979 with a final ring record of 49-21-5. Offered here is a fight-worn robe of Billy Backus used in a number of bouts after winning the welterweight title in 1970. The robe is blue satin with white trim and a hood. It is approximately thigh length, and on the back is stitched the name: "BILLY BACKUS." Inside the collar is the manufacturer's label for G & S. There's minor soiling, but otherwise is fine. Comes with an LOA from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc.
