Grover Cleveland Alexander Photograph (7x9")

Grover Cleveland Alexander Photograph (7x9")

The soft-spoken, hard-drinking Hall of Famer experienced his greatest years in Philadelphia (1911-17), where he won 190 games (one-third of the team's total for the period) and won 30 or more for three straight years. From 1915-17, he led the NL in every important pitching statistic at least once and his 16 shutouts in 1916 is still the ML record. Offered is a rugged portrait of Grover taken late in his career. The photo displays superior contrast and clarity, with only minor pinholes at the corners. EX-MT+. United Press Assoc. stamp on the reverse, typed label with name and HOF induction year on front.
