On a picture postcard displaying a photo of himself, Austrian Expressionist painter Gustav Klimt has written note addressed to “Frau Anna Klimt.” Note is completely in his hand, using black fountain pen and is signed, “Gust” (slightly faded). The words in German, written underneath his sepia-toned portrait, translates to “Currently staying in so that I can finish up. Will be home again on Friday, September 5…Kind Regards, Gust.” The portrait above shows the artist from the chest up, elegantly dressed in striped suit with a white shirt. Minor fading to some of the writing. There are two cancellation marks on the front of the postcard, one of which covers the 5-cent stamp. VG-EX.
