American novelist and short story writer tragically died from alcoholism in 1916 at the age of 40. Still, he managed to live a full and productive life, leaving us with over fifty books of novels, stories and other writings. He was among the most influential figures of his day, enthralling the masses with his eclectic varied from tales of the wilderness to boxing stories to conventional love stories. The 13 checks were drawn on the Merchants National Bank in San Francisco and were issued between 1911 and 1914, just two years before his premature death. Signatures are just beautiful (NRMT) and overall condition is EX-MT. The checks measure 3.25x6.25.
