A cultural icon, Jackie Robinson challenged the traditional basis for segregation in baseball with his unquestionable talent. Debuting for the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947, number "42" became the first black baseball player in MLB, breaking the color barrier. This collection of six color slides by Hy Peskin features Robinson crossing the plate after a homerun, batting, running to second base, warming up with teammates. His number, "42", features prominently in the images.
