The tragic French middleweight, who won the title in '48 and lost it in his 1st defense to Jake LaMotta -- before dying in an airplance crash on Oct. 27, 1949 -- put his very rare signature on this bucolic postcard of Paris in the springtime. Writing on the back dates the signature as December 1945, just months after WWII had ended. Signature on the lower mailing side in black fountain pen is blotched in spots but overall is a prime example (VG-MT) of the playboy pug who was just as famous for his affair with singer Edith Piaf. 3.5 x 5.5" card is EX with serrated edges and a bit of browning.
