This lot has been withdrawn from the auction One of the most coveted awards, the Grammy is presented by the National Academy Of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) annually for excellence in the recording industry. In 1957 the Hollywod beautification committee was faced with a problem -- they needed names to put in the stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The committee asked a group of recording executives to name the best recording artists. Those same execs realised that recognition was needed based on excellence. The N.A.R.A.S. was formed and the Grammy's developed out of that meeting. The first awards were handed out in 1959. This Grammy trophy has a woden base and metal cast gramaphone with unscrewable horn. It measures 5x5" and the base is 7" tall. It was presented to Paul McCartney and Wings for "Best Pop Performance Made By A Duo Or Group With Vocal" for 1974's "Band on the Run." Excellent condition.
