Peter Max is one of the most celebrated, recognized. imitated and successful artists of the 20th century. Along with Andy Warhol he is one of the most prominent artists of the last several decades. When we close our eyes and think of the 60's we see a Peter Max poster. Considered America's Artist, he has painted portraits of the Statue Of Liberty on the White House lawn, re-designed the NBC peacock, and served as Official artist to the Super Bowl, The Grammy's, and the Olympics. In the 60's Peter Max revolutionized the public's perception of art. By licensing and mass producing items bearing his artwork Peter Max made his art accessible to the public. By 1970 there was over one billion dollars of Max products on the market. His famous Love poster sold between 3 and 4 million copies.
