19th Century Heubach Baseball & Sports Figurines (9)
The late 19th century was the pinnacle time for these bisque and porcelain figures which developed with the ushering in of recreational sports in America, most notably baseball. Many of these are Heubach and made in Germany by the top porcelain makers for American export. Some are classic Heubach knockoffs far rarer than the originals. Dating from the 1870s-80s and in Excellent or better condition overall, this lot includes: BASEBALL: 1-2) Baseball batters (7") with with gold detail and glazed. 3) Huebach baseball pitcher in blue (9.75") with stampings. TENNIS: 4) Huebach style female tennis player (12"). 5) Female tennis player (7") with gold detail and glazed. 6) A 14" highly-detailed female tennis player with some light gold gilt. FOOTBALL: 7) Victorian footballer (7") with cracked and repaired base. 8) Footballer (7") looks eerily like Dennis Eckersley. 9) Soccer “footballer” (12.75") dressed in early vest uniform. FISHING: 10) 14" tall boy fisherman complete with net from the second half of the 20th century. Very impressive collection.
