1902-07 Rube Waddell Business Card

1902-07 Rube Waddell Business Card

Hall of Famer Rube Waddell's quirky sense of humor is on full display in this business card made during his time with the Philadelphia Athletics from 1902-1907. Waddell was in the prime of his career while with the A's when he played under legendary manager Connie Mack, leading the AL in strikeouts in each of the six seasons he was there and even winning a pitching Triple Crown in 1905. This is the first "calling card" for a baseball player of any era during his career that we can recall and is the only specimen known. It measures 2x3.25" and was obtained from a gentleman collector well known for his good taste and hobby charm.
