1919 Cincinnati Reds Chicago Tribune World Series Supplement

1919 Cincinnati Reds Chicago Tribune World Series Supplement

Supplement for the Chicago Tribune is an exceptional representation of the “World Champion” Cincinnati Reds of 1919. Actually, they were the team facing the infamous Chicago Black Sox, later found guilty of the most well-known scandal in the history of sports. Motivated by gambling money, the Chicago White Sox were in fact manipulating the World Series to lose on purpose in 8 games. Pictured in this 12x18” supplement from the Tribune (dated September 21, 1919) are Magee, Groh, Mitchell, Roush, Salee, Ring, Rath, Ruether, Kopf, Moran, Daubert, Fisher, Rariden, Neale, Gerner, Allen, Eller, Sallee, Wingo & Luque. A few edge tears have been restored (EX-MT conditionand mounted on linen). Nicely double matted and elegantly framed to 19x25”.
