1932 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Vintage Home Run Wire Photo (7x9”)

1932 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Vintage Home Run Wire Photo (7x9”)

Photo taken in Shibe Park is of Babe Ruth crossing home plate after rounding the bases. Of course, he had just hit a long ball against the Philadelphia Athletics. He gets a handshake from the second part to the most formidable hitting duo in baseball - Lou Gehrig, as catcher, Mickey Cochrane glares through his facemask at the Babe in disbelief. The New York Yankees would go on to defeat the Philadelphia Athletics 12-6. Associated Press photo has the newspaper clipping in which the photo was used attached to its verso. Caption below reads, “The King of Swat congratulated by his home run ‘twin,’ Lou Gehrig, after making No. 1 under his reduced pay contract. Babe got another three innings later.” EX.
