1957 St. Louis Cardinals Retired Number "2" Game Worn Jersey

1957 St. Louis Cardinals Retired Number "2" Game Worn Jersey

Home jersey has "Cardinals" and "birds on bat logo" embroidered on the front. Famous number "2" in felt is on the back. Rawlings size 42 and "Extra 57" sewn on the front tail. The inside of the front tail has the wash tag and a "Set 1 1957" flag tag. During the regular 1957 season, the number 2 was not used by the Cardinals. This jersey was most likely used in spring training. The year before (1956) number 2 was worn by Hall of Famer Red Schoendienst. Schoendienst again wore the number "2" when he returned to the Cardinals in 1961. Ultimately, the number was retired by the Cardinals in honor of Schoendienst. Nice condition and fabulous display potential without the price tag of a Hall of Famer's jersey.
