One-of-a-Kind Cleveland Indians Statue by Fred Kail

One-of-a-Kind Cleveland Indians Statue by Fred Kail

This one of a kind item is a Fred Kail figure of Tony Pianowski, who is in the Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame for his efforts as a director for the City of Cleveland regarding sports and recreation. Kail, who is believed to have created the very first NFL figure, is a legend in the trade, and his work is highly sought after as it is difficult to come by and in turn does not come cheap. This figure, done with the usual Kail flair for exaggerated features, was made in the late 1950s or early 1960s, when the burgeoning artist was just starting to come into his own. "TONY PIANOWSKI" appears on the front of the white base, and it is signed "Fred Kail Jr, Hagerstown, Maryland" on the back. There is also a pencil notation on the back of the base that reads "21740 PAX" and the number on the player's back is "38." It is in EX-MT condition with no chips or cracks. This is a truly special offering as we have never seen another Indians player done by Kail.
