Significant 1886 Louisville Colonels California Tour Cabinet
In December of 1886, the manager of the Louisville Colonels Jim Hart packed up his team and shipped off to California for a barnstorming tour. While there, he added a number of California League players and proceeded to rattle off 20 wins in a row. The team's success helped to drastically increase the popularity of baseball in the West. This beautiful cabinet card depicts a handful of the key starters for that team and includes Hart, Paul Cook, Bill White, Monk Cline, Hub Collins and others. The bottom center of the card has a "placard" that reads "Jim Hart's Louisville-California Combination. Dec. 1886". The card has modest issues throughout including two significant creases and paper loss on the bottom border, but is otherwise VG
