1927 Pottsville Maroons Schedule

1927 Pottsville Maroons Schedule

Feast your eyes on this very rare item from the short-lived NFL franchise that lasted from 1925-28 and won a disputed championship their first year of existence. The four-sided card from the team's third season is in VG condition and features an unusual 15-game schedule inside, beginning with a home game on Sunday, September 25 vs. Buffalo in the season opener, a neutral-field game vs. Duluth "in Scranton or Wilkes-Barre" and a home-and-home series with the Chicago Bears. There is room on the card for fans to scribble in home and visiting scores. In addition, there is an ad on the inside boasting that the league uses Spalding equipment. Another Spalding ad graces the back cover, urging fans "whether you play Foot Ball, Hockey or Golf, or compete in Athletic Sports," to purchase Spalding athletic goods from local distributor Joe Zacko.
