1807 Thomas Jefferson Signed Land Grant Document (PSA)

1807 Thomas Jefferson Signed Land Grant Document (PSA)

Remarkable document signed by the third President of the United States and founding father Thomas Jefferson on August 8, 1807, granting 400 acres of land in the Northwest Territory (Ohio) to Captain Robert Forsyth. It is interesting that the document gives away land when one of the hallmarks of Jefferson's tenure as President was the acquisition of the Louisiana Purchase, which nearly doubled the burgeoning country in size. Jefferson is also well known in American history as the author and signer of the Declaration of Independence, and additionally served as Governor of Virginia, the first Secretary of State, and the country's second Vice President. The document has also been signed by Jefferson's Secretary of State and future President James Madison, a legendary statesman in his own right. Madison is known as the "Father of the Constitution" because of his role drafting and promoting the revolutionary document. Jefferson's signature is faint but legible, while Madison's is much bolder but a bit spotty. This is a unique opportunity to own a piece of history featuring two of America's most influential figures. Comes certified by PSA.
