Circa 1960 Geese Ausbie "Rookie" Game Worn Harlem Globetrotters Satin Warmup Suit

Circa 1960 Geese Ausbie "Rookie" Game Worn Harlem Globetrotters Satin Warmup Suit

This blue satin warmup suit practically sparkles, as befitting the fame of the Harlem Globetrotters. It belonged to Herbert "Geese" Ausbie, most likely these were his rookie duds. Perhaps he wore them in his first game and kept them forever. The top is a Wilson size 44 zip-front with heavy Globetrotters logo sewn to the left breast, and the colorful red, white and blue with yellow stars collar that flows behind the uniform. The pants are size 34 with elastic and drawstring, in addition to zipped cuffs. Both pieces show great use with some stains, and the set is suitable for display. After turning down offers to play pro baseball and basketball, Geese embarked on a 25-year career with the Globbies, inheriting the mantle of "Clown Prince of Basketball" after the retirement of Meadowlark Lemon.
