Emmett Kelly's Clothespin Tie Clip - Gifted by Red Skelton

Emmett Kelly's Clothespin Tie Clip - Gifted by Red Skelton

True to the resourcefulness of those who lived through the Great Depression, Emmett Kelly's "Weary Willie" character, based on a Depression-era hobo, was known to use a clothespin as a stand-in for a tie clip (shown in photo). This clothespin was gifted to Kelly by Red Skelton, a famed American entertainer known for his work in radio and television. A handwritten note appears on the clip reading, "To Willy, From Freddy." It comes directly from the family of Emmett Kelly.
