Jack Dempsey Gold Plated Photo China Dinner Plate
Gold-plated, Versace-style plate with famous Jack Dempsey photo is a rare find and the first we've ever seen. The 10.5" Buffalo China dinner piece was most likely used for VIPs at the opening of Dempsey's restaurant in New York as Buffalo China was used at Dempsey's throughout its existence (1935-1974). An image of Dempsey encircled in gold is one from a series of famous shots of the Manassa Mauler by Apeda Studios in New York. In it, Dempsey is looking regal as he removes his robe to reveal his famous boxer's physique and championship sash. The imperial pose matches the imperial quality of this rare piece.
