This is one of the best archives there is--totally unpicked and unadulterated. This is all ships of the U.S. Navy and old stuff.Dating from the 1910s to the 1950s (most 1930s 40s) they include completefiles on the following ships: Boston (guided missile cruiser), Benson(destroyer), huge file on the Bennington the aircraft carrier that suffered tremendous explosion in May of 1954, Borie (destroyer), large file on the Bon Homme Richard (aircraft carrier), Boggs (destroyer), Blandy (destroyer), Blakeley (destroyer), Blackhawk, Boise,Bismarck Sea, Birmingham, and the Biddle (guided missile destroyer). There are also the following individual subject files within this archive: multiple files on naval uniforms, tug boats, two files full on women in the Navy, neutrality meeting, winglessdevices ,transports, training, RAT (rocket propelled search and destroy missile, targets, amphibious tanks, Western Sea Frontier (headquarters), Naval Yards and more. There are also many superb individual images: two U.S.S. Boric real photo postcards in Shanghai, 1941P-T boats in dusk, 1910 subsurface destroyer, two of the Conyngham launched and the christening of the ship by ten-year old Conyngham family member (1915), launching of the Tucker (1915), USS Billingsley towing the world flight plane “Boston” (1924). Best of all are two of the Birmingham-one large image of just the ship and the other showing the bodies back from the Battleship Maine to go to the White House grounds. The flag draped coffins pulled by horses and buggy is dark and chilling. The San Francisco Examiner was the first paper acquired by William Randolph Hearst and itself was the subject of the film classic Citizen Kane. The majority of the photographs are fully identified, and back-stamped with dates. Included throughout this auction is a diverse mix of subjects including sports, historical, political, transportation, Hollywood, and all facets of entertainment.</p>
