Ossie Schectman Player Contract Set and Correspondence For the 1947-48 New York Knicks Season (6)

Ossie Schectman Player Contract Set and Correspondence For the 1947-48 New York Knicks Season (6)

One of the most notable Jewish athletes to play professional sports, Ossie Schectman scored the first basket in NBA (BAA) history and was prominently featured in the documentary film "The First Basket" about Jewish basketball history. This important lot features an un-executed set of three contracts for the 1947-48 season and a letter explaining why the Knicks wanted to reduce his salary that year. It also includes Ossie's uniform size request slip and a directory of player names and addresses. The contracts are clean and in EX-MT condition. The letter has some tears at the bottom and the directory page is EX. In addition, there is a letter from the Knicks detailing a new rule in the NBA limiting players from joining other professional teams or risk being barred for life.
