Wee Willie Keeler 1909-1925 Game Used Bat

Wee Willie Keeler 1909-1925 Game Used Bat

One of the smallest men to ever play in the major leagues, Hall of Famer Wee Willie Keeler nonetheless amassed a string of hitting achievements that few can ever hope to approach. A lifetime .341 hitter, Keeler is perhaps best remembered for coining the phrase, "Hit 'em where they ain't." This Spalding Autograph Series Wee Willie Keeler model bat comes from the labeling period of between 1909 and 1925. Measuring 30 3/4" in length and weighing 35.9 ounces, the ash bat is uncracked and shows heavy use with numerous ball marks on the barrel and slight checking from repeated ball contact visible on the back barrel. There are also small chips on the knob. where a large "B" has been carved. Mounting holes are also visible on the knob and barrel. As Spalding retail and professional model bats of the day were virtually identical, one major differentiating factor is the presence or absence of the Spalding trademark on the knob of the bat. The professional model bats did not have the trademark stamped into the knob, instead they had blank knobs with an unfinished appearance. This particular bat has no trademark, and is indeed an authentic professional Keeler bat. It will make a fine acquisition for any discerning baseball collector. PSA LOA.
