1956-71 George Brace Postcards & Original Negatives (1875+)

1956-71 George Brace Postcards & Original Negatives (1875+)

1) Gorgeous real photo Type I postcards were printed from George Brace negatives. Total of 1300+ pieces all numbered on the backs. Many of the classic teams such as the NY Yankees, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators, early NY Mets and even some Brooklyn Dodgers. Collection has players from all eras but the majority are from the time they were printed, in the early 1960s. Not not many major stars but good cult players, some dead ball to 1940s (Frank Frisch, Pie Traynor), but vast majority "modern" players. As a sampling here, names like Ashburn, Garcia, Howser, Virdon, Power, Battey, Neal, and more. There is duplication, as there are anywhere from a couple to ten of each. Overall EX, images have perfect contrast. 2) George Brace Original Negatives date from 1956-1971 but most are early 1960s. Shot by Brace, all are from the camera (Type 1) and measure 4x5”. From big stars to cup of coffee Major Leaguers (some are among the only existing images of that player in uniform). Includes: exceptional lot of Tony Conigliaro (four negs, one postcard & four proof prints), Johnny Pesky, 1966 Dom DiMaggio (three marvelous portraits), 1971 NY Mets Tug McGraw (7), Bill Rigney, Grady Hatton, Jim Leyland, Andy Pafko, Dick Sister, Johnny Sain, Rudy York, Donn Clendenon, Mudcat Grant, Sandy Amoros, several 1960 Yankees (Roy White, Horace Clarke, etc.), Jim Northrup, Mike McCormick, Dick Stuart, Reggie Smith, Mel Harder and many Cleveland Indians, two superb Rusty Staub (early Houston Astros), Washington Senators team, Billy Martin 1961 Braves and Cincinnati Reds (5), George Scott 1967 Red Sox w/postcard, Leon Wagner, Dean Chance, Blue Moon Odom (plus other KC and Oakland A’s), Danny Ozark 1965 Dodgers, Bob Oliver, Manny Mota, Ted Kluszewski, and many, many more. Plus, tons of LA Dodgers (rare uniform styles), early NY Mets including 1962 and 1969, Pittsburgh Pirates (early '60s and group of 1971 World Champs), some great Red Sox, Brooklyn Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, and Baltimore Orioles. Also, nice lot of 1960-61 NY Yankees with nice group at Al Lang Field. There are some marvelous stadium shots, plus Bill Dickey, Frank Crosetti, and three of Al Lang himself. There are multiples of many the players and most are in their original envelopes. Some envelopes have George Brace's "GB" initials on them. However, these were sold to postcard printer Norm Paulson as Brace did with many of his negatives. Also, many of the players are from their earliest, if not rookie years. Some postcards even come with an extremely rare “Proof” stamp on them. Total of 575+ negatives.
