1978 Pete Rose 44th Game Hitting Streak MINT Unused Ticket (PSA/DNA10 MINT)

1978 Pete Rose 44th Game Hitting Streak MINT Unused Ticket (PSA/DNA10 MINT)

1978 was a landmark year for all-time hits leader Pete Rose. Not only did he record his 3,000th knock on May 5, he also gave Joe DiMaggio a run for his money, hitting safely in 44 consecutive games to set a National League record. This ticket stub comes from the last day of that special streak - on July 31 in Atlanta - when Charlie Hustle lined a sixth-inning single to tie "Wee" Willie Keeler for second on the hitting streak list, 12 behind Joe D's famous record. The pursuit ended the next night at Fulton County Stadium as Rose took an 0-for-4 collar and later criticized pitchers Larry McWilliams, Dave Campbell and Gene Garber for failing to "challenge him with fastballs." The ticket is PSA/DNA graded MT 10.
