Lot # 18: 2000 Playoff Contenders Football Rookie Ticket #144 Tom Brady Autograph Rookie Card PSA GEM MINT 10 Auto

2000 Playoff Contenders Football #144 Tom Brady Rookie Ticket Autograph Card. Autograph has been graded and encapsulated by PSA as Gem Mint 10. Signed in dark blue across Brady's legs, the card itself is nicely centered. Top left corner has a very light touch while the remaining corners are sharp and edges remain smooth. Top left corner area has a few light surface imperfections and the reverse is clean. Card was submitted originally to PSA for dual grading in 2021 when it was extremely difficult to get a card grade, and PSA did not grade it. We then submitted it to PSA's autograph department for them to authenticate the autograph, and the signature passed. Note: The card does have the Playoff raised seal on bottom left.

NY Yankees, Giants & Mets

Lot # 37: 1932 World Champion New York Yankees Team-Signed Baseball (PSA)

The 1932 World Series Champion New York Yankees dominated the American League with 107 regular season wins before sweeping the Chicago Cubs in the World Series for the franchise's fourth title. This magnificent team-signed Official American League (Harridge) ball features 24 signatures including: Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bill Dickey, Earle Combs, Lefty Gomez, Joe Sewell, Cy Perkins, Red Ruffing (signed twice, with one deemed clubhouse), Frank Crosetti, Sam Byrd, Cy Moore, Dusty Cooke, Art Jorgens, Myril Hoag, and more (per the included PSA letter, Joe McCarthy, Joe Glenn, Red Ruffing, and Russ Van Atta have been deemed as clubhouse); ball rates in VG condition, with toning evident. Signatures average 6/10 overall with 7/10 Ruth and Gehrig on opposite sweet spots (Gehrig's is actually over the main stamp, which has mostly faded). Often overshadowed by the "Murderers Row" era Yanks of the 1920s, the '32 Yankees were dominant in their own right, winning the World Series best remembered for The Bambino's "Called Shot" against the Cubs - whether he did or didn't remains a discussion for the ages. PSA LOA.

Lot # 29: 1977 Brooks Robinson Baltimore Orioles Signed Game Worn Jersey (Photo-Matched & MEARS A10)

Baltimore Orioles home jersey worn by Hall of Fame third baseman Brooks Robinson during his final Major League season in 1977. Graded A10 by MEARS. The white knit jersey is lettered "Orioles" across the front and features the number "5" on the left breast and reverse. "Robinson" is lettered upon a white name plate on the reverse, directly above the number. All letters and numerals are applied in orange on black tackle twill. Located on the interior right front tail are a "Rawlings 42" label and an adjacent flag tag reading "Set 1 1977." Robinson has inscribed the jersey "Brooks Robinson HOF 83" in blue Sharpie (grading 8/10) on the right breast. The jersey is original as issued and displays light-to-moderate wear.

1977 marked Robinson's final season in the Majors, but his main duties that year were as a coach, not a player. Still, Robinson managed to play in 24 games that year, with his final appearance coming as a pinch hitter on August 13th. Robinson is considered by many to be the greatest fielding third baseman in baseball history, a reputation bolstered by his sixteen consecutive Gold Glove Awards between the years 1960 and 1975. Although best remembered for his hundreds of incredible fielding plays, he was more than a fair hitter, finishing his career with a .267 lifetime average, 268 home runs, and 1,357 RBI, including a league-leading total of 118 in 1964. One interesting aspect of this jersey is that it was photo-matched to one worn by Robinson during an Orioles Old Timers Day event in 1989. While only speculation, the team probably retained the jersey after the 1977 season for just such an occasion and it's possible that it was worn by Robinson for several Old Timers Day games over the years. Full LOA from MEARS (Graded A10). Full LOA from Photo-Match.com. Full LOA from JSA (for the signature only). COA from PSA (for the signature only).

Lot # 7: 1952 Topps Baseball #261 Willie Mays Card PSA NM 7 - Newly Discovered Example

1952 Topps Baseball #261 Willie Mays card. Graded NM 7 by PSA. This card originates from a new find of 1952 Topps baseball cards that recently surfaced in the Midwest. Our consignor's husband collected the cards as a child and, miraculously, nearly all avoided the common fate of being repeatedly flipped or placed in bike spokes. Instead, he carefully stored them in a shoe box, where they remained, untouched, for the past seventy years. The majority of the cards are in high grade, with the only issue of note for most being centering. We have selected three of the cards - Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Jackie Robinson - for inclusion in this auction. (All have been submitted for grading by Lelands.) The remainder, including nearly all the high numbers, will appear together in one of our upcoming sales this year.

It should be noted that of the 2,556 examples of this card listed in the PSA Population Report, only 72 have received a higher grade. A total of 101 have been graded at this level, meaning that this card ranks in the top 6% of all PSA-graded 1952 Topps Willie Mays cards. In technical terms, the card retains its original gloss and the borders remain white. All four corners remain sharp and the edges are very smooth. Centering is slightly off top to bottom as well as left to right. The reverse is off center but is otherwise clean and bright. This is an exceptional high-grade example of one of Mays' most popular cards, and one that would be an upgrade for nearly any advanced 1952 Topps collection.

Lot # 8: 1952 Topps Baseball #312 Jackie Robinson Card PSA EX+ 5.5 - Newly Discovered Example

1952 Topps Baseball #312 Jackie Robinson card. Graded EX+ 5.5 by PSA. We have selected three of the cards - Robinson, Mickey Mantle, and Willie Mays - for inclusion in this auction. (All have been submitted for grading by Lelands.) The remainder, including nearly all the high numbers, will appear together in one of our upcoming sales this year.

It should be noted that of the 1,267 examples of this card listed in the PSA Population Report, only 170 have received a higher grade. A total of 14 have been graded at this level, meaning that this card ranks in the top 14% of all PSA-graded 1952 Topps Jackie Robinson cards. In technical terms, the card displays a clear and colorful image of a smiling Robinson against a dark red background. The card retains its original gloss and the borders remain white. The top left corner has a light touch with corresponding light crease. The bottom right corner has a moderate touch with the remaining corner being sharp. The edges remain very smooth. Centering is off top to bottom as well as left to right. There is a small print dot in the dark red background near the top of Robinson's cap. The reverse is off center but otherwise is clean and bright. An extremely attractive example of this important postwar baseball card.

Lot # 6: 1952 Topps Baseball #311 Mickey Mantle Card PSA EX+ 5.5 - Newly Discovered Example

1952 Topps Baseball #311 Mickey Mantle first Topps card. Graded EX+ 5.5 by PSA. We have selected three of the cards - Mantle, Jackie Robinson, and Willie Mays - for inclusion in this auction. (All have been submitted for grading by Lelands.) The remainder, including nearly all the high numbers, will appear together in one of our upcoming sales this year.

The offered Mantle card is an an outstanding example of the hobby's most iconic postwar baseball card. It should be noted that of the 1,787 examples of this card listed in the PSA Population Report, only 257 have received a higher grade. The bottom right corner has a light touch while the remaining corners are sharp. The edges are very smooth. Centering is off top to bottom as well as left to right. The reverse is off center but is otherwise clean and bright. This is a high-grade fresh-to-the-hobby example that would be a welcome addition to any advanced 1952 Topps or Mickey Mantle collection.

Baseball Equipment

Lot # 33: 2014 Mike Trout Anaheim Angels Signed Inscribed Game Used Bat from First MVP Season! (PSA GU 10 & Anderson Authentics)

Mike Trout Old Hickory pro-model (MT27*) bat dating from his first MVP season in 2014. Graded GU 10 by PSA. This is one of the finest Mike Trout game-used bats we have ever offered, especially given its provenance. In addition to having achieved a perfect grade by PSA, the bat is accompanied by an LOA (on Anderson Authentics letterhead) signed by Trout in which he attests to its game-used provenance. Trout has also affirmed its game-used status a second time by signing the bat in silver paint pen on the sweet spot of the barrel, where he has added the notation "14 G/U MVP."

The cupped-end bat, which is not cracked, measures 33.5 inches and weighs 31.5 ounces. Excellent use is displayed throughout, including ball marks, cleat marks, pine tar, and a wrap of tape on the knob and lower handle. A ring impression, made by a weighted batting donut, is also visible on the barrel. 2014 was just Trout's third full season in the Majors, but he was already established as one of the game's best all-round players. Trout batted .287 with 36 home runs and a league-leading and career-high 111 RBI for the Angels in 2014. Those numbers, along with his league-leading 115 runs and 338 total bases, earned him the first of his three MVP Awards at season's end. Trout has currently amassed 1,543 hits, 350 home runs, and 896 RBI, not to mention a .303 batting average and a .415 on-base percentage, all of which have been achieved in basically just nine full seasons. If that trajectory continues, he very well may match Mariano Rivera's record of being unanimously elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame when his day comes. Full LOAs from PSA (GU 10) and Mike Trout (Anderson Authentics - corresponding hologram label on knob).

NY Yankees, Giants & Mets

Lot # 36: 1921 "The Sale of Babe Ruth" Signed Letter by Boston Red Sox Treasurer U.J Hermann - From The Barry Halper Collection (PSA)

From the famous Barry Halper Sotheby's Auction comes a historic letter tied to the most important transaction in sports history, the sale of Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees. Dated January 13th, 1921 and sent to "New York Am. League B.B. Club", this typed document is signed by Red Sox Treasurer U.J Hermann on Cort Theatre letterhead. While Cort Theatre does not sound like it has a connection to the Yankees or Red Sox, it is no coincidence as Harry Frazee was President of both Cort Theatre and the Boston Red Sox. Hermann served as treasurer for the Boston Red Sox and Cort Theatre.

Document reads "Enclosed herewith please find bill for the first years annual interest of six per cent due on a $25,000.00 note of yours which I hold, having discounted same for the Boston Am. L. B. B. Club [American League Baseball Club]. This is one of the notes given in connection with the sale of Babe Ruth. Please remit direct to me at such time as may suit your convenience."

The terms of Ruth's deal were as such; the New York Yankees were to pay the Boston Red Sox $100,000 broken up into four payments of $25,000. One payment was to be made in cash with three promissory notes to be paid with 6% interest. The letter here references a bill sent by the Red Sox to the Yankees for the first years' annual interest. On reverse, another mention of Ruth reads "Ruth deal, Interest in 1922 note" in unknown hand. The light spots shown on back page are from the plastic in the PSA slab. Letter is triple folded with light creasing on left edges and mild stain on top right corner.
