1/2/39 Time Magazine Volume 33 #1 GCG/Hitler "Man of 1938"

1/2/39 Time Magazine Volume 33 #1 GCG/Hitler "Man of 1938"

Presented is a powerful copy of the January 2, 1939, issue of Time, with the cover indicating the "MAN OF 1938" is, "From the unholy organist, a hymn of hate," none other than Adolph Hitler. In less than two years, the United States would suffer the attack on Pearl Harbor and be at War with Germany. In 1938, British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain had appeased Hitler and allowed Hitler to take over control of the Sudetenland section of Czechoslovakia. Hitler's oppression of the German Jewish population had already begun. The cover illustration of Time, created by Rudolph Charles von Ripper, is absolutely chilling. The illustration shows a giant church organ being played by Hitler. Atop the organ is a Ferris wheel-like contraption that shows naked victims of Hitler's hatred hanging from the giant wheel. The value of the magazine rests in the utter condemnation of Hitler that the cover exhibits nearly two years before the United States entered World War II. The magazine measures approx. 8.25x11.5". The price of fifteen cents is on the cover. The Time Volume #33, Issue #1 magazine has been encapsulated and graded CGC 6.5.
