10,000th Home Run in Tiger Stadium Baseball Hit by Greg Gagne
On July 22, 1993, Greg Gagne of the Kansas City Royals hit a home run off of Detroit Tigers’ Mark Leiter in the Royals’ 12-6 victory over the Tigers. The home run was the most historic ever hit in Tiger Stadium, as it propelled the ballpark into the history books. Tiger Stadium was the first ballpark ever to reach the 10,000 home run plateau; fitting as it is one of baseball’s 2, second-oldest stadiums, which opened on April 20, 1912 - the same day that Boston’s Fenway Park opened. The OAL (Brown) baseball shows nice use from the game and is additionally signed by Gagne and inscribed by him on the following day at Tigers Stadium, “#10,000 vs. Tigers, 7-23-93.”
