1859 Hard Bound Issues Porter's Spirit of the Times Sports Magazine
Very nice hard-bound collection of 42 issue's of Porter's Spirit of the Times sports weekly from March 5, 1859 to December 31, 1859. "A Chronicle of the Turf, Field Sports, Literature and the Stage." Porter's had the leisure time activities of 19th century Americans covered. Articles on rowing, chess, draughts, hunting, cricket, swimming, horse racing, cock fighting, boxing and much more. The boards and spine have some minor bumping and paper loss at the corners, but overall the book is in solid condition. The inner pages are in equally good condition. Some have overall spotting, but there is minimal edge wear and/or tearing. Very nice.
