1870s Pressed Tin Horse Racing Weathervane

1870s Pressed Tin Horse Racing Weathervane

Used to gauge the direction of the wind, this stately thoroughbred-themed weathervane claims nearly a century and a half of age. Made of pressed tin and cast iron, the unusual double figure also contains a pair of hand blown, hand painted glass globes. Perched on an 8x8" wood base, it stands a stately 58" high to the tip of the point; the tail has broken from one of the horses and the metal support shows some rust, but the piece still rotates and presents wonderfully.
