A). July 10, 1879, program of six races including the Monmouth Oaks. Jockey Hughes won two for George Lorillard. Bramble, with jockey McLaughlin in the Shrewsbury Handicap for the Dwyer Bros., was named champion older male and overall champ for the year. Ferida ran in the Monmouth Oaks and was named top 3-year old for 1879 and champion older filly for 1880. Program has pencil notations and half of the reverse has paper loss due to having been pasted in an album. B). July 12, 1879, program of six races featuring the Monmouth Cup won by champ Bramble with McLaughlin up, only two days after racing previously! In the third race, famous racehorse Monitor (Hughes up), also won. George Lorillard won two races and brother Pierre Lorillard also was victorious. There are some pencil notations. The top half of the reverse was also pasted to an album, but luckily was all blank. The front page and program cover are in about excellent condition. Both programs have no tears, or folds, other than the middle fold by the racetrack’s printing office when issued.
