1880s N692 Sunny South Boy Boxer

1880s N692 Sunny South Boy Boxer

Mislabeled by SGC as an N157 Honest Long Cut, this card is actually the smaller, scarcer N692 Old Fashion Fine Cut version. These interesting racist sets depicted blacks in the postwar South (N157 is called "The Sunny South"). Among the watermelon eating and other supposedly "Negro" activities depicted were three boxing cards: A white adult fighter supervising two boys boxing, the two boys boxing alone, and a solo image of a boy in a boxing stance. Rare in any grade, this one rates as fair due to a glue stain on the back
