The Westminster Kennel Club is the oldest, continuous sporting event in America, with the exception of the Kentucky Derby. It began in 1876, so this collection is from the fifth and sixth award year, thus, early in the development of Westminster. The collection consists of a Tiffany sterling 1881 medal, a W.K.C. 1882 blue ribbon first prize and 1881 third prize yellow ribbon. The medal is marked Tiffany & Co.” made of sterling, and comes in the original Tiffany box. On the medal is the head of the first great Pointer which the Club owned named "Sensation." The Club has preserved his memory by adopting his picture as the club logo. The back reads “Awarded to” which is blank. The medal is 2” in diameter and 1/8” thick and in mint condition. Both ribbons are made of silk and measure 16” long. On the third prize ribbon the winner’s owner wrote “Rover”. Condition is EX.
