1882 New York Giants Application for Admission To The National League (3)
One lot of three items. Includes a one page handwritten letter on "The Continental" letterhead dated Sept 22, 1882 in which the New York Ball Club "hereby applies for League membership." Signed by John Day. Also included is a 4 x 5.5'' note on lined paper in which the team again applies for league membership dated August 12, 1882, also signed by John Day. The New York team was admitted to the league in 1883. Finally, there is a 1920 letter written to Charles Stoneham from John Day's relative giving these documents to Stoneham for sentimental reasons. The Sept 22, 1882 document has some restoration work along the fold lines, otherwise it is in fine condition. Historically significant archive dating back to the absolute roots of the team.
