1897 August Belmont Signed Contract Licensing Aqueduct

Dated from 1897, only three years after the opening of New York City's only racetrack in 1894, comes this historic document. This is the license granted by the New York Racing Commission to the Queens County Jockey Club to hold races in 1897 at Aqueduct Racetrack. It is signed by all three members of the New York Racing Commission including August Belmont. The lengthy document is in NRMT condition.
