1904 Boston Sunday Herald Cartoon Posters (2)
Rare posters from one of the earliest comic strips following soon after the creation of the Yellow Kid. Boston Sunday Herald cartoon series entitled “The Adventures of Little Allright”; the debut was the first poster for March 6, 1904 (the second poster is March 13, 1904). The creator, Wallace Goldsmith later became a sports cartoonist at the Boston Globe. These stone litho posters are simply magnificent, executed in brilliant, resonant color and have that early look of Windsor McKay or Richard Outcault. Actually, the Sunday Boston Herald was probably trying to introduce characters to compete with Outcault’s success at this time in the New York Herald with Buster Brown and his dog Tige. Posters measure 22x30” and are NRMT.
