1907 Miller Huggins Signed Receipt (PSA 9 Mint)
Before Miller Huggins whipped the New York Yankees into shape as Manager (1918-29), with three World Championship Titles, and the famed 1927 “Murderers’ Row” club (starring the likes of Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth), he was a superior second baseman for the Cincinnati Reds (1904-09). It was during this tenure that this printed receipt (NRMT) from The Cincinnati Exhibition Company (the Reds) was created on June 11, 1907. It contains a large, early signature by Huggins at the bottom in pencil, acknowledging his payment of $150 for his “Mighty” services. About as nice of a Miller Huggins signature that you will find, with a PSA grade of 9/10 (MINT). Interestingly, eight days after signing this receipt, the Mighty Mite, who was not known for his long-balls, slammed a home-run leading off for the Reds in a game they eventually won against the New York Giants. Fans were so shocked, they bestowed Huggins with gifts. Measuring 8 x 3 1/2”, this is a prize.
