1908 Detroit Tigers AL Champions Match Safe w/Ty Cobb

1908 Detroit Tigers AL Champions Match Safe w/Ty Cobb

Amazing piece of Tigers history, this ornate match safe dates to a season when Detroit took the AL title via a scheduling quirk by which they lost one fewer game than the Cleveland Naps (but had the same number of wins).  Front side of safe reveals head shots of the entire team including Ty Cobb, Sam Crawford, Hugh Jennings, et al.    Back side advertises Mundus Beer West Side Brewing Company of Detroit, Michigan.  Consistent wear and foxing as well as some separation at the seem of the celluliod (on the bottom end of the safe).  Extraordinary item measures approximately 2.5x1.5x0.5".
