1908 Detroit Tigers Full Ticket

1908 Detroit Tigers Full Ticket

Exceedingly rare Detroit Tigers full ticket issued during the club's 1908 pennant-winning season. The front of the 50-cent ticket displays the team name, the year, and the facsimile signature of Tigers president Frank Navin. The reverse features advertising for the "E. M. Harris & Co." tobacco store. The number "19" is prominently printed on the front of the ticket, which most likely indicates that it was issued for the 19th home game of the season. If so, this ticket granted admission to the June 10th game against the New York Yankees. Ty Cobb had two hits and an RBI in five at bats in the Tigers' 7-6 win that day. The Tigers captured their second of an eventual three consecutive pennants in 1908, winning 90 games, which was a half game better than the second place Cleveland Indians. Unfortunately, the Tigers fell short in the World Series again in 1908, losing to the Cubs in five games. The ticket (4x2") displays a few very small, light creases and is Excellent in its overall appearance.
