1909 Shibe Park Program
April 12, 1909 program for the first ever game played at Shibe Park featuring the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. The cover features Shibe Park and an Athletics player holding a bat with pictures of B.F. Shibe and Connie Mack on top between two white elephants. The rosters for the game between Boston and the Athletics are on page 2 and include legendary players like "Home Run" Baker, Tris Speaker, Eddie Collins, Chief Bender and "Shoeless" Joe Jackson. The day's program includes what songs the band would play and who would sing "The Star Spangled Banner." Great photographs throughout and vintage articles on the building of Shibe Park, Connie Mack, the origins of baseball, the Athletics championships of 1902 and 1905 and many more. The cover is detached but easily restored, otherwise, EX-MT.
