1914 Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb Signed Baseball

1914 Babe Ruth and Ty Cobb Signed Baseball

This is the earliest Babe Ruth signed baseball that we have ever handled, and it may have been signed at some sort of barnstorming event at the time. Ruth was a 19-year-old rookie with the Red Sox in 1914, having just been acquired from the Baltimore Orioles in July. Two days after joining Boston, Ruth won his first game as pitcher and split the rest of the season between Fenway Park and the minor leagues. This official American League baseball has blue and red stitching and was coated with shellac. Readable signatures on the ball are Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Harry Heilmann, Oscar Vitt, Owen Bush and Howard Ehmke. There are a few others that are not readable. Those that we can make out average 4-5/10. Ball is dated in vintage ink "Oct. 6, 1914," 11 days before "The Bambino" married Helen Woodford. The ball comes with a PSA LOA.
