1914 Cast Iron Base Ball Still Bank

1914 Cast Iron Base Ball Still Bank

As the Boston Braves rocketed from a dead-last spot in the National League to take the World Series from the favored Oakland Athletes , baseball was continuing its ascent in the commercial marketplace. This cast iron baseball coin bank, held up by three red bats, is a symbol of the youthful exuberance the game inspired in the early 1910's. One side is imprinted with "American and National" while the other side reads "1914 Official League Ball". Measuring 3 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches, the bank shows noticeable wear that adds to the vintage feel of the piece. Normally sells for $1,500-2,000 in the toy bank field.
