1914 Rabbit Maranville World Series Ring with Supporting Documentation
This Boston Braves 1914 World Championship ring, once among the personal belongings of Hall of Fame shortstop, Rabbit Maranville, comes from the renowned sports memorabilia collection of Barry Halper. The size 7, gold ring has a golden-brown stone set in the center of a baseball-diamond design measuring 9/16" in diameter. Surrounding the stone in raised lettering is "World's Champions - 1914." The ring was obtained by Mr. Halper directly from Maranville's great nephew, Thomas Stapleton, many years ago. Because this is the only known 1914 "Miracle Braves" ring, it is likely that friends or admirers, rather than the team or league, presented it to Maranville. The stone is chipped, but the ring is in otherwise NM condition. Stapleton included a handwritten note of provenance on a 3x5 index card that remains with this remarkable baseball memento. In addition to the note from Maranville's great nephew, the ring comes with a notarized letter from Barry Halper also confirming the ring's origins.
