1915 Pittsburgh Federal League Ticket Book with 43 Unused Tickets
The short-lived Federal League holds a particular fascination for historians and collectors, as the third "big league" of the 20th Century that unwittingly charted the future of the game. This ticket book from the Federal's Pittsburgh club (alternately called the Rebels or the Stogies) was issued complimentary, for admission to Exposition Park, to the Oakdale Times in hopes of gaining publicity -- but only the first 34 tickets were used; the rest of the 77 tickets remain in the book as apparently the paper lost interest, even though the team went 86-67 and finished just a half-game out of the top. 2 x 4" booklet with "Season of 1915" on the pale green cover, the book is EX+ and the tickets are mint. Signed on the cover by the team president and treasurer. Great curio important baseball history.
