1915 St. Louis Globe Color Baseball Supplement

1915 St. Louis Globe Color Baseball Supplement

This beautiful vintage sports cartoon was originally published as a supplement to the St. Louis Globe-Democrat newspaper on Sunday, April 25, 1915. The piece, a roughly 16 x 22" drawing printed on newsprint, has been framed to 20 x 27”, and features color ink with nice detail. The subject is a humorous take on the tense pennant race in major league baseball that year, with the entirety of the National League -- represented by a variety of mischievous looking characters -- ready to leap on the Boston Indian walking arm in arm with the fair pennant, here represented by a woman. At the top, in orange letting, the piece reads "Their intentions are good but --." The cartoon was drawn by cartoonist A. Russell.
