1917 Chicago White Sox Season Pass Signed by Charles Comiskey (PSA)
Offered is a 1917 Chicago White Sox season pass signed by the team owner, Charles Comiskey. The '17 White Sox had a powerful team that won the American League pennant with a record of 100-54-2 and then defeated the New York Giants in six games in the World Series. Two years after the '17 season, the '19 White Sox threw the World Series and became known as the "Black Sox." All eight of the accused Black Sox players also played on this 1917 team: Joe Jackson, Happy Felsch, Chick Gandil, Buck Weaver, Fred McMullin, Swede Risberg, Happy Felsch, and Shoeless Joe Jackson. Felsch and Jackson led the '17 Sox in batting average at .308 and .301 respectively. On the mound, Cicotte went 28-12 and Williams was 17-8. In '17, the White Sox played in Comiskey Stadium, named for their owner. The season pass measures approx. 2.38" x 3.75". Printed on the front of the pass is "Chicago White Sox American League Baseball Club." In an unknown hand, using ink from a fountain pen, the pass is numbered as "23" and made out to "Joseph [?] J [?] Lannin [?]" and the pass is signed by Charles Comiskey in ink from a fountain pen as "Chas a [sic] Comiskey." There is some back damage from being glued in a scrapbook. There is also some brown tape residue on the front. The season pass has been encapsulated and certified PSA as "AUTHENTIC AUTO."
